LIGHT, BRIGHT AND EASY ACCESS
Patio Doors were really a development of French doors. Rather than having individual panes of glass, why not go for an unobstructed view out into your garden, decking or patio area.
PATIO DOORS VS FRENCH DOORS
1. Increased Space
French doors also have to open inwards or outwards, while patio doors simply slide left or right. This makes sliding patio doors the perfect choice for homes with restricted space. The large glazing area also allows for maximum light exposure and offers extended views of the garden or surrounding area.
Combining convenience, security and aesthetic appeal, external patio doors are ideal for conservatories, porches or rooms that require increased access to the outdoor space. To ensure your safety, all glass fitted to our patio doors is toughened glass.
2. Greater Flexibility
You can choose from having a single door which slides left or right. This normally slides in front of a fixed door. However, if you wish, you can opt to have both doors available to slide, allowing you to choose which one to use. This gives you flexibility when moving furniture around a room or if patio seating is moved as the sun travels from left to right across the sky.
Another advantage of patio doors, compared to something like French doors, is that you can have a much wider open space. The size of a hinged door is frequently restricted by the amount of space required to open it. However, a patio door is only restricted by the amount of sliding space. This is particularly worth considering if you need to carry items like furniture from either one room to another or from outsider to outside your home.
3. Greater Mobility
Patio doors can also be fitted so that the lower runner is flush with the outside path, decking or patio, or with your internal room. This removes any barriers and can assist, as mentioned earlier, with moving items. It will also help those people with mobility restrictions.
